Think of yourself as a magnet. This might sound rather strange to you at first, but when you really stop and think about it it becomes easy to understand why someone might give you this advice. After all, what does a magnet do? It sticks to things, or rather things stick to it. Therefore, if you are thinking of yourself as a magnet, you can assume that things are sticking to you. This forces you to ask the question, what do you want to stick to you? Do you want positive thoughts, joy and peace to stick to you or do you want negativity, fear, anger and worry to be attracted to you?

Obviously, most people would easily answer that they would prefer to have positive emotions sticking to them. However, it seems like there are a lot of people that are a magnet for negative emotions instead. Why does this happen? In short, it happens because people allow themselves to become bogged down by the challenges and hurdles that exist in daily life, not to mention the bigger problems of the world, and they forget that they are going to attract the same type of energy that they put out there into the universe. In fact, according to the Law of Attraction, you will get back whatever type of energy you project several times over. When you consider this type of information, you probably want to attract the positive things more than ever.

Without a doubt, the type of emotions that you typically feel are the same things that you will end up attracting. This is a sobering thought. If you think about how many times people say something snarky about someone else, imagine how many times these people must have a negative thought about another person that they don’t vocalize. Is that really the type of energy that you want to attract? By the same token, if you are a person that spends a lot of time worrying or being angry, you will become a magnet for people with those emotions. It is as if you are flashing a neon sign across your forehead. When you’re a happy, joyful person, others will see it and they will be attracted to you. Unfortunately, when you are a pessimistic, angry or fearful individual, other people will see that, too. They will then become attracted to you. Either way, being around other individuals that are thinking the same way that you are already thinking reinforces those thoughts, so you had better make sure that you are a magnet for positive thoughts to begin with.
If you do happen to think on the negative side, don’t worry because everyone does this at one time or another. It is something that you have the power to change, even if you have been that way your whole life. Take an honest assessment of yourself. Do you find yourself being a happy person who expects the best in others and expects the best outcome in almost every situation? Do you find yourself thinking bad thoughts about other people or believing they are thinking bad thoughts about you or do you automatically expect that things won’t work out in your favor? If you do find an area where you have a lot of negativity, start working toward changing those thoughts by actively forcing yourself to think positive thoughts until it becomes more natural. Before you know it, you will start to notice a change in the way that others treat you and in the types of individuals that are attracted to you.
